3 Financial Report
As Geoff was rather ill it was agreed to accept that the account showed a balance of £1101.52 which was about the same as this time last year . There seemed to be a loss of around £200 for the season due to some debts still to be paid which was put down to the large amount of cancelled matches mid week .
We decided to ask Geoff to do the proper accounts when he is better and then have a committee meeting to adopt them and pass them round the members
It was requested that the club rules and a copy of the insurance cover be circulated round the members before the start of next season. It was also requested that the committee decide and report back as to how the insurance effected any guests playing during the season.
4 Report for 2004 Mid Week
The weather was the dominant factor especially as the best or most competitive fixtures were cancelled this year. We managed to win 6 out of 8 fixtures. We feel that we did a good job of involving everyone in the games whether batting of bowling on a week to week basis. 10 members reached the 25 not out retirement milestone on at least one occasion this season, a record for the club. Congratulations to Barry Payne who scored the most runs this season, and to Steve Prior who took the most wickets.
5 Report for 2004 Sunday
Our second season was very successful as we went up to 16 games in the season with only 2 cancelled due to the weather and still managed to turn up to all except one with 11 men . It was a struggle many weeks especially during the holiday season but we did it. We intend to use this platform to increase to playing every week next season . We seemed to have runs of winning and runs of losing but ended up winning 6 out of 14 games . It is always difficult to give everyone a bat and/or bowl when the emphasis is more on winning than in mid week but I think we did reasonably well. Congratulations to Brad Martin who got up to second in the batting averages with a late surge . It was bit worrying that 72% of the wickets were taken by 4 people and we certainly need more bowlers especially with the extended fixture list .
6 Subs and Match Fees 2005
It was decided to put the annual sub up to £30 and match fees to be £7 home and away for Sundays and mid week.
The opposition would be asked to pay £40 both mid week and Sundays to pay towards the cost of the game.
All the above is subject to the fees to be charged by Old Walcountians for 2005.
7 Membership
We currently have 20 paid up members .
The following people were put forward for membership and were accepted
Dan Scott (friend of Noel)
Sital (friend of Tony)
There were certain people last season who made a few guest appearances and they were to be encouraged to join.
It was felt that a level of around 22-24 is acceptable .
8 Election of Officers
Re elected
Secretary Robert Brooks
Mid week captain Noel Medici
Committee Bhush Amin
Committee Tony Brett
Treasurer Geoff Sinnerton had offered to stand down as he had been ill. It was felt by the membership that they would like him to carry on as long as he was happy to do so . It was decided that Geoff would be contacted before the start of the new season to see what he wanted to do. In order to avoid having to call a meeting specially Tony Brett was proposed , seconded and carried as his replacement if Geoff decided not to continue.
Sunday Captain Robert Brooks had resigned and was thanked for the work he had done for the first two seasons. Steve Martin was proposed , seconded and carried as Sunday Captain .
It was agreed that the role of captain either mid week or Sunday was to run the team on the day of the match . The secretary was responsible for getting 11 players to turn up to the match and for collecting the match fees unless the treasurer was at the match.
The committee would now consist of
Robert Brooks, Geoff Sinnerton, Tony Brett, Bhush Amin , Noel Medici and Steve Martin.
9 Fixtures 2005
It was suggested that the same match every year would be played for a trophy e.g. V Giltec who play also on our ground. The committee would look at this possibility.
Wednesday It was decided to play against all the same teams as last season except Banstead , Alliance and Chris Andrews.
Sunday Again it was decided to play against all teams from this season except Ashley . There was general feeling that any new fixtures should be in the West Surrey area rather than East of Croydon. As a tour seemed to be difficult to arrange it was agreed that a fixture be arranged in the direction of the South coast where members could go down on the Saturday night and stay over .
10 Winter Nets
RB to ask the membership and find some nets if there was demand.
11 Scoring and Umpiring
It was agreed that the standard of umpiring had gone up this season.
The standard of scoring however was poor especially in regard to writing up the scorebook .It was agreed that Steve Martin (Sundays) and Robert Brooks (Wednesdays) would be responsible for the scorebook being up to date at the end of the match. Scoring should be done in pairs to make the job less tedious and the scoreboard to be updated at the end of each over. The old Alliance scoreboard to be adopted as easier to read.
12 Website
It was considered very important for the club to maintain a website similar to the one before and RB agreed to take responsibility but would ask people who were interested to do match reports to take the strain off the job.
13 Kit and club clothing
Kit We need bails, umpire coats, bowlers markers , thigh pad and two new bats. The Alliance kit is being donated to the club. We are to ask the club to provide storage space at OW for the kit.
Club Clothing . It was decided that every member receive a club cap on payment of membership. RB to sort out the purchase of the caps.
14 Social Events
An end of season event with prizes/awards etc. The committee to look into this idea. It was also thought a good idea to have a match where we had a barbecue and invited families during June/July.
15 Any Other business
It was decided that the Alliance membership of the Conference be transferred over to Priory
